Sweet Home Alabama

This is just wrong. It is wrong, wrong, wrong. Did I say how wrong it was?

There is no other way to describe what you are about to see. It is wrong!

The video below is of a Finnish rock band called: THE LENINGRAD COWBOYS performing the State Anthem of Alabama (or is that the National Anthem of Alabama) before a group of screaming RUSSIAN teenagers. As you watch the video, be sure to watch for the choir backing the group up. The choir is the former official SOVIET RED ARMY CHOIR now known simply as the RED ARMY CHOIR.

I want to send a protest statement somewhere, I just don't know where!

Any suggestions on who to write? Where to send the complaint letter? What do you think?

  1. WOW! I am speechless and that doesn't happen very often. Hard for me to see anyone but LS playing & singing that. Second, what's with the hair? Third, what's with the girls? Fourth, what with the leprachaun shoes? Fifth,
a Red group & choir singing such an American song? Sixth, do they even know where Alabama is? Seventh, it is just wrong. Eigth, what's with military marching sound at the closing? (I think I am out of numbers) Oh yeah, ninth, I have no clue where you would protest (and doubt anyone would care).

  2. Wow...I'm impressed with your list of nine things...I think I'll just stick with my assessment that this is just WRONG!

No one should butcher Alabama's National Athem! No one! I'm not sure I even like the new LS doing the song! Nothing like the original!

  4. Problem is Steve you are talking to a northern guy here. But I do like LS' version much better. One more: what's with the clothes?

  6. Kevin, I've never seen you declare your loyalty over on your site. Are you an Aubie or a Rammer Jammer?

As you know, it does matter!

  7. Steve,

Are you kidding? I grew up in Tuscaloosa. Bear went to my church. My family had Jeff Rutledge and his wife over for dinner several times. He, Keith Pugh, Steadman Shealy and others used to speak for my Dad's Campus Life meetings. I have 2 Bear Bryant pictures on my wall. Shaun Alexander is my favorite player in the world. I bleed Crimson.

    Roll Tide!

  8. Well...Now I am thoroughly impressed with you Kevin...I might even write you in for president in November!

Keith Pugh is a good friend of mine, we go back to our days of serving in South Alabama...or as we locals know it LA (Lower Alabama)! Keith is a good man! And, a great preacher!

  9. Kevin, you may already know this, but Keith is back in Tuscaloosa, serving a church there.

  10. I think this is just too good...maybe they have a great version of Dixie they can do as well....where do I get an album?....do you think they know "Rocky Top?" or "Tiger Rag?"

    ah, the possibilities....

  11. Oh Roger...I hope you aren't equating Sweet Home Alabama with Rocky Top or Tiger Rag...if so, I am greatly, highly offended!

    :)
