Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2009!

I wonder how long it will take me to get used to writing or typing that. Probably a few checks will be discarded before January is over.

The new year began at midnight. A large and expensive ball dropped in an orchestrated manner precisely at midnight in New York City. Millions witnessed it in Times Square. Countless others watched the ball drop from the comfort of their homes.

We did not watch the ball drop. We did not stay awake to witness the clock strike twelve. We didn't stay up to turn the calendar or watch the number 12:01 appear on the microwave or DVD player or computer.

With a soon-to-be 11-month old child, you take advantage of every opportunity to sleep that you can. When he goes to bed, you're tempted to go to bed yourself. Whether that time comes at 5:00 PM or 9:00 PM. Why waste good hours of sleep? You just never know when he might wake up!

So, if you are reading this shortly after midnight, I'm very impressed! Happy New Year to you! Now, got to bed! It'll still be the new year when you wake up!

If you are reading this at any other time, and you didn't stay awake to see the new year arrive, I fully understand and appreciate where you find yourself!

I wish you the same well wishes for the new year. Happy New Year!

I look forward to seeing where God might lead all of us over the days, weeks, month, and year ahead.

  2. I didn't go to bed until after midnight, but it wasn't my plan. We have hit another brick wall with baby names. Just when I thought we had it done I found out we really don't. Of course, my beloved is sleeping in today while I am up with the turds needing an IV of straight up caffeine. Why? Why? Why??????

Happy New Year!! Reality has struck me already.

  3. I wish I could have been where you were at midnight but I was 'required' to be a ministry function at that time.
So Happy New Year to you too.
    Let's see. . . 2009, 2009, 2009. I just thought I'd prime the pump a little.

  4. I watched the New Year ring in on the east coast (ball dropped at 11 CST) from the comfort of my bed. Read for 15 minutes and then was out like a light. I figured anything important could wait 'til morning. Now it's on to a day of football!!

  5. I was definitely asleep when the ball dropped.. Sons were all tucked in beds too! Hubby was still at Wal-Mart! A very different New Year's Eve for us... well worth it!

"I look forward to seeing where God might lead all of us over the days, weeks, month, and year ahead." Absolutely agree!!

May you each know God's presence more in your life's moments, and then, be proactive in helping others notice Him!

2009 is going to be off the charts because of the Solid Rock!

  8. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one not to make it all night...I personally just don't see the need to watch some ball drop! I'd rather be catching up on my sleep, if that is possible!

Happy New Year everyone! You really are special to me!
