Joyful--100 Words

[For those who don't know, that's Evan in the picture, my son. Here, he's eating a chocolate cookie. He's the most joyful person I know!]

Joyful.

Are you? Am I?

Why be joyful?

“Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands” (Psalm 66:1).

“Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob” (Psalm 81:1).

“O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation” (Psalm 95:1).

“With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King” (Psalm 98:6).

“Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands” (Psalm 100:1).

Oh. Okay. No excuse. I know better.

So, why do I struggle so?

  1. IMHO: I think we all struggle with this because of life. I look at Evan as I once looked at my girls: they don't have a care in the world. You/I take care of them. They trust you/me. What worries do they have? Life hits us and just wants to suck the joy right out. I need to remember that joy is not determined by my circumstances. Good thoughts for this morning Steve. Dangerous prayers said for you and Tonya.

  2. Bill...how correct you are. The innocent look on Evan's face is amazing. I dread the day when that look will disappear. I know it is coming, as it did for all of us. I just don't look forward to it.

    Hope you all are well!

  3. I'm not nearly as joyful as I should be. Thanks for the reminder.
