The Works of a Man's Hands

Last week's furlough will be burned in my mind for a long time. Many lessons were learned, and much work around the house was accomplished.

I am most proud of one accomplishment, building a toybox for Evan. As promised, here's a picture of the final work.

My father-in-law said I might could consider going into business and building these for a living. After the hours it took to build this toybox, there's not a chance in the world that that's going to happen!

  1. Great job, Steve! Just remember... the 1st toy box either lasts for a lifetime or doesn't make it past age 3. lol

  5. NICE. I'd like one made with pink (where the blue is) and purple (where the red is) and crowns and scepters on the front instead of the balls. And for the little feet, where you have baseballs, you can use crowns. :) And her named is spelled KRISTI. haha

Seriously, great work. You probably could sell them, and you would probably find that you could three or four in the same amount of time as it took you to do one.

  6. Sorry Karma...you gave insufficent data to work from! :)

You are probably right about building three or four at a time. In this situation, Tonya found a toybox online that she liked...and she said, "Build this!" So, I first had to draw it out, do the math, dimensions, etc...that took a while...then, I just started! With no instructions!

  7. Great job, Steve! It looks great!

We're past the toy box stage and are now into the "Techno-Teen" stage; you know: Wii, MP3, etc...

  8. Meant to comment yesterday on this Steve. Got busy. The toy box looks great! A real man's (boy's) box. It will be awesome later when Evan can grasp that daddy made it with his own blood, sweat and tears. Way cool!
