I've decided to take a walk to explore the world around me. If you'd like to come along, I'll share my thoughts with you on what I've found on this journey.

Blogger vs. WordPress
VS.
Okay, I've seen several debates lately about which blog program is better--blogger or WordPress. So, now, here's your chance to express your opinion.
Please share your top 5 reasons I should use one or the other. What makes one better than the other? I'm considering a change. Why should I do it?

I think Wordpress is more user friendly. I like the security features. It has a built-in stats counter. I like the ease and organization of posting pictures and video my blog. I feel more in control of content and I like that I can edit comments if anything rude or disrespectful is left there. In a nutshell, more control and easier to use.

Heidi...I did check into that security feature you mentioned, and it doesn't work in WordPress. So, not really sure if that improves my situation over at blogger or not.
ReplyDeleteIf I were just starting out, I would probably give more consideration to wordpress. It seems to be a bit more customizable, in ways.
ReplyDeleteHowever, having been on blogger now for over two years, I'm used to it and thing it is easier.
:)
I have blogs on both. To me, they are about the same, except, that with Wordpress, I can have different tabs or pages. I can use one of the pages like a static "Front" page of a website. We do this for my church: www.immanuelsouthern.com
ReplyDeleteOne drawback of Wordpress is that they won't allow Java script, so there have been a thing or two I couldn't put on the sidelines, and my "StatCounter" program doesn't work properly. THey do have a built in stat page, but it isn't as complete at the third party "StatCounter."
Blogger allows Java, but not tabs, (or at least as far as I can figure out.) I've been using Blogger since 2004. Both WOrdpress and Blogger let me use my own domain name, but blogger's setup is much easier for it.
Don't forget, that with your domain name, you can also use Google Aps which give you email adresses at your domain for free. For example, I have up to 100 free email addresses with Google Aps for www.immanuelsouthern.com.
The wordpress one works really well for our church website; the blogger site works well for www.rickboyne.com.
That's my two cents.
Wordpress. Wordpress is easy to convert too. You get your site and it imports all of your blogger posts.
ReplyDeleteSteve,
Come on over to the dark side.
blogger. im baptists. we don't change.
ReplyDeleteFunny... i've been debating switching over too.
ReplyDeleteKevin...you are frightening me now...the "dark side"...wow...
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean Michael...we Baptists often don't even change our mind...much less our actions!
ReplyDeleteOkay WordPress folks...wow us with what you've got...so far, they seem about equal...Blogger folks...you need to come to the rescue of your beloved blogger...
ReplyDeleteYou could just go completely berserk on us and pick Live Journal or TypePad. Then you'd be a rebellious Baptist. Do those exist?? LOL!

Blogger is FREE...
ReplyDeleteI don't have to consider anything else...
Okay, I'm cheap....
Phil...WordPress is free as well...see, I'm cheap as well! :)
ReplyDeleteYou mean, Heidi, there are more choices? GREAT! Thanks a lot!
