God is God of This Idol

My wife is a huge fan of American Idol. Basically, I watch American Idol because she watches it.

However, after seeing the video below, I'm a bigger fan today of Kris Allen, the new American Idol. See what you think.

The Trumpet of Jesus

There is no doubt that the Imperials are one of my favorite groups of all time. They've had their issues, that's for sure, but their music still resonates with me.

Turn up the volume and enjoy.

Wii-rry Christmas!

Well, just as everyone is settling into their Christmas presents, there are some people who aren’t enjoying their gift-giving!

It seems that up to ten people a week are being hospitalized with injuries caused by playing Nintendo Wii games, prompting doctors in Britain to issue warnings of the dangers associated with the video game system.

“There has been a 100 percent increase in patients complaining of Wii-it is,” Dr. Dev Mukerjee of Broomfield Hospital, Essex, told The Sun newspaper.

Most patients are admitted after playing tennis or running games which involve sudden movements, resulting in tendon stretching or tearing. “It’s possible Wii-itis may lead to rheumatism or arthritis later in life. Patients often have inflamation of the shoulder or wrist,” said Dr. Mukerjee.

Another common injury is dubbed Wii-knee, blamed on the bending of the knee from the Wii-Fit game. This involves a special platform and a series of movements ranging from yoga to strength-training moves. In extreme cases, the kneecap can be dislocated or pop out of joint.

Doctors treat Wii-knee with cortisone injections, icing, and anti-inflammatory painkillers. Treatment can last for three months.

Wow! Well, at least a Wii wasn’t under our tree on Christmas morning! That’s good news and bad news. I think, from watching the TV commercials, a Wii would be fun to play. I love video games and think I would enjoy this particular unit. However, I certainly don’t want to be rushing off to the hospital (again!). So, we’ll wait until Evan is a little older to consider purchasing a Wii or any other game console.

Any experience with a Wii? Playstation?

I Will Not Be Moved!

I have stumbled. I have fallen. I have failed. I have worried. I have been afraid. I've been mean. I've doubted. I've been less than God created me to be me. I've been nothing like God wants me to be.

But, no matter how terrible my failures, God has given me a solid rock to stand on! That rock is Jesus Christ. My Savior. My Lord. My Redeemer. My Friend. My God.

I will not be moved from that rock. I will hold to it. I will cling to it. I refuse to let go.

Natalie Grant says it far better than I can.

Practical Christmas Gifts

Since few people read my blog on Sunday and I'm on a roll with showing Jeff Foxworthy video clips, why not take a moment to watch this short 1:17 clip. It may just have a good point.

Before He Speaks

A regular visitor and commentor on here is Pastor Rick Boyne. Rick's a good guy, even though he pulls for the Oklahoma Sooners--hope he still does after today's football game!

Anyway, Rick posted a great video on his site yesterday! It is absolutely, totally too funny. Go over to his site and watch the video and then come back and watch the video below, produced by the same church. I think you'll like this one as well.

I think Rick and the other pastors you know will agree that there's a lot of truth in these videos.

Enjoy!

Cosmic Cowboy Rides Again

Yesterday, I shared a song with you that I played while employed at Samford University's radio station.

Just for laughs, here's another song that was very popular during those days! I'll be curious if any of you have ever heard the song or can even remember it.

It was quite popular in those days...who knows, maybe the cosmic cowboy will ride again!

Yes, He's Alive!

I went to a small Christian college in Birmingham, Alabama. In my first year there, I had the opportunity to work at the on-campus FM radio station. I believe our signal was actually strong enough to make it completely across the campus--unless it was overcast or fog rolled in.

I really loved working on radio! I had the opportunity to listen to some of the greatest singers and artists of all time! I enjoyed taking requests from friends and fellow students--once I learned that that's what the red blinking light was telling me--someone was calling in a request!

One of the very first songs I played was by Don Francisco.

For old time's sake, enjoy what is probably his greatest hit of all time.

The American Dream

A heart attack will do many things to you, and for you. One of those things is a renewed sense of priority and priorities.

Hope you have a great Sunday, worshipping the King of kings, spending time with the family, and resting.

Listen carefully to the words of this Casting Crowns video.

Hearing Music in My Head Again

Okay, I know what you will say after watching this video. You can go ahead and save your comments! My wife has already said I was crazy for liking this song and even thinking about posting it on my blog. But, have you ever gotten a song in your head and couldn't get rid of it? Well, that's the case with this one.

I first heard it a couple of months ago. As you watch the video, those of you who follow my blog regularly, will know what attracted me to the music. It wasn't the person singing--to be honest--I didn't even know who was singing it until I went out to YouTube! As a matter of fact, this is probably the only song I've ever even heard by this artist! Honest!

So, sit back. Listen. And enjoy the reminder of how sweet Alabama really is!

Comment if you want to. But, save the really, really negative comments, if you don't mind. Knowing that my wife thinks I am crazy is really enough!

Alabama is a Sweet Home

My blogger friend Bill and I share a love. We both like the "big hair" rock groups from years ago. I suppose that's what we grew up with, and they really influenced our taste in music. While this may not be your taste in music, it does beat rap! Not even close!

Found this video of another big hair group playing what probably should become the national athem--at least everyone in Alabama would know the words!

Kevin, this one's for you!

Real Men Do Cry

Here's the warning for today. Go ahead and grab a tissue. You'll need it as you watch this video.

Mark Shultz is one of my wife's favorite artist. This song is powerful.

Today, I pray for all Mark's out there who have been given up for adoption. I pray for all of the moms of children like Mark, who for various reasons have chosen to give them up for adoption. You are in my prayers.

While your sacrifice was great, thank you for giving life to your child and making a difference in our world through them!

He's My King

This is one of my favorite videos of all time. I've seen it in various forms, with different kinds of music. However, this version will rock you awake, and the message will rock your heart!

I hope today, that He is your king. If not, He wants to be.
